Volume Number 1, Issue Number 1, July 2001
G'day folks!

It's with great pleasure and considerable relief that I deliver the inaugural issue of eNAMEL, a free online newsletter for those interested in vitreous enamel - glass on metal - and the pursuit of excellence.

eNAMEL will initially be produced every second month. Central to each issue will be a "featured enameller" and some of their work, and when time permits a "featured enamel" which will generally be an historic or antique piece. We'll also include articles by and about knowledgable practitioners in fields related to vitreous enamelling. Hand engraving and engine turning (guilloche) are two highly-specialised and demanding disciplines which spring readily to mind.

The minimum of text commensurate with providing necessary information, and a maximum of good pictures will be the criteria for any article published. Occasionally, basic instructional articles (mainly "how to's" for beginning enamellers) will be included. The first of these appear in this issue.

Navigating around the site will I hope be straightforward. Each article is selfcontained and linear. That is to say, you start at this front page by clicking an article description (e.g. "Steve Lindsay, Hand Engraver") or picture opposite and move from page to consecutive page within the article using the ARROW buttons. Clicking on HOME brings you straight back to this page.

For the sake of simplicity there are no cross links between articles. There are links to external websites throughout and these will open in a separate window. When you close that window you'll be back in eNAMEL. You may email an individual directly by clicking the text below a picture in the right hand column on this page.

Due to time constraints it's possible to deal only with matters raised by subscribers and while I welcome suggestions as to what subjects you would like to see here we'll try not to spend too much time reinventing the wheel. With this in mind, please don't ask for information that's readily available from textbooks or the yellow pages.

We'll make every attempt to include timely information sent to us about upcoming exhibitions, shows, events, and new Web pages and when you email us please identify yourself. The officeboy automatically bins unsigned correspondence and stuff without an entry in the "subject" field.

eNAMEL will showcase people who have a web presence with pictures of the quality featured in this first issue, and accepts submissions in digital form only i.e. via email, on floppy disc or CD.

All images and text on this website remain the Copyright Property of the individual/s or entities concerned and may not be reproduced in any form other than as part of the complete digital eNAMEL newsmagazine without the written permission of the Copyright holder/s.

They are easy enough to contact - please extend them that courtesy.
