"I believe Adone to be one of the finest engravers living today. His bulino dot work shows he is amongst the best engravers in the world. Adone has made bulino work for him in ways that I wouldn't know how to start doing.
He plays with the dots and the burs, understanding and manipulating the reflected light so that from different directions the engraving marks appear black, or as shades of gray - he doesn't require inks dyes or paints in his work - all he needs are dots and light to create his images." Master hand engraver Steve Lindsay, about his friend and colleague Adone Pozzobon : Adone ( pronounced A-dunn ) Pozzobon was born in small town near Venice in Northern Italy. His father was a master Renaissance-style painter and sculptor with extensive talents in fresco art, as well as a professional art instructor with a strong liking for antiquities. Adone's father lives on through his art which is scattered across many continents. Adone considers himself very fortunate to have spent the better part of his life deeply rooted within the arts; painting, sculpture, music, writing, restoration of antiquities, and traditional graphic arts have all contributed to building a solid backbone, broadening his creative views whilst enhancing his professional engraving career. Before engraving he managed a lithography department for nearly two decades in the commercial printing trade, developing during that time many organizational and communicative skills. That strong background in a variety of fields has had a cumulative effect on his art and plays a dominant role in how he conducts business today. He says: "I simply cannot imagine being without those roots to draw upon" |
