Metalsmiths, sculptors, enamellers, entomologists.
"Carolina Mantid" (Stagmomantis carolina) When I first discovered the world of vitreous enamel twenty-some years ago I was besotted, and taken with its endless possibilities. A recurring vision was of insects, amphibians and reptiles, both real and fantastical, glowing and alive. In the event, I never actually managed to make any myself. While I was busy dreaming, Diane Buettner and Sharron Kree were beavering on half a world away as metalsmith and enameller, bringing the vision alive in a way completely their own. A love for and expert knowledge of their coleopterological subjects, their originality and hard-won technical expertise are blended to produce beautiful works having real authenticity. I love 'em! (the beetles that is - unfortunately I've never met the girls!) Gold & silversmith, sculptor, teacher, artist, designer.
"Microbe Pin #36" Adam Klejman has over 30 years experience as an artist-designer-maker. A love for and use of original and rare materials are hallmarks of his unique wearable sculptures. Born in Poland in 1953, Klejman completed an apprenticeship in Gold and Silversmithing and later studied Sculpture under Alfons Wosowski in Gdansk. Leaving Poland to work in Austria and Germany, he migrated to New Zealand in 1980 and Australia in 1985. Adam's pieces are inspired by and based on the intricate detail of the fascinating world of microbes - the microscopically-small writ large by the exact and uncompromising hand of the master metalsmith.
