INTRODUCTION
Simon Fairweather is a multi-talented individual whose major life-focus has been sport - archery - at the very top of international competition. However, he has also holds a degree at the University of South Australia in Jewellery Design, having graduated in 1997 after receiving the Award for best 2nd year, and subsequently best 3rd year and it is because of his marvellously-detailed carved animal miniatures - Netsuke - that we feature him here.

"While sport has been the main focus of my life to date, my heart and soul rest with art and craft. When traveling with teammates to archery competitions, they'd be reading Sports Illustrated and I'd be reading Australian Arts-Craft or an Architectural magazine. I love working with my hands and using tools - both hand and power.
I am finding the greatest challenge now is settling on one or a few areas of work - there are so many interesting and alluring fields of art and craft."
